IAB Co-signed Joint Letter in Response to Australian eSafety Proposed Industry Standards

The Australian government is currently considering draft online safety standards that threaten to undermine the use of end-to-end encryption, putting security and privacy of Internet users at greater risk.

In May, the Internet Architecture Board (IAB) co-signed a joint letter together with the Global Encryption Coalition in response to Australian eSafety proposed industry standards, calling on the eSafety Commissioner to protect the privacy and safety of all users by protecting end-to-end encrypted services.

The IAB remains concerned about the use of client-side scanning, and encourages the IETF community and broader Internet community to continuously raise these concerns.
